About

Alexander James Liles - Wild Man Alex

Alex is a micro-preemie warrior, born during the pandemic lockdown of 2020. Born at 24 weeks gestation and weighing only 12 ounces, Alex had an epic fight for life, spending 297 days in the hospital ICU. Alex’s twin brother, baby John, did not win his fight and passed away in the NICU. His spirit will always be with us.

Alex never backed down from the fight and overcame serious threats to his ability to breathe, eat, walk, talk, see, and thrive. Surrounding him was the greatest army – his parents, doctors, nurses, family, and community. Alex is now home and full of smiles, but the work continues, and has moved from medical interventions to therapies.

We are grateful for the many people and organizations that helped our son to live, and forever changed by the experience. We have started a philanthropic fund to help more children who are born near the edge of viability – The Alexander James Foundation.
