Hi everyone! Look at me walking in Tennessee! We f

Hi everyone! Look at me walking in Tennessee! We flew on an airplane to Nashville to meet a non-profit called Amputee Blade Runners. And they made me a new leg!

I only get one leg from insurance. And I can’t run in it. And because I’m a pediatric amputee with a knee disarticulation, there aren’t many people like me. So my Mom has been talking to this clinic for three years, because they know a lot about how to help kids like me. And they do it all for free, thanks to donations.

While in clinic we met so many cool kids like me! We met Jacob, who is now 11 and plays baseball. We also met Duke who is here for a hockey tournament. He gifted me his first jersey! And we met Zyra, who is on the NBC show La Brea. She showed me her leg and helped me get used to mine!

So now I have a skin-fit socket, which is better for my bone growth and comfort. And I also got a new running blade, but it was pretty powerful for where I’m at. I will have to train up to it. So we bring it back on the airplane. For now I wear my skin-fit socket, and walk as much as I can!! Once I no longer need my shopping cart, then I work on the blade! But I have everything I need to be independent.

Thank you to Mr Aaron, who runs the clinic, and to Mr Josh, the executive director of this non-profit. They are changing lives like mine and giving me the freedom to be a kid. Our family is forever grateful. And we will be coming back to Nashville a lot!! 🦿

Hi everyone! It’s me, Alex.

I just got back from Camp No Limits, a camp for kids with limb loss. It was at this amazing facility called Ability360 in Phoenix, AZ. We drove six hours to get there!

I saw so many people like me. And I became super inspired to start walking. In fact, this is the most I have ever walked!! I wouldn’t stop. Mom says this camp was a turning point for me.

My school started a few weeks ago, and I’m in the same preschool. They care so much about me and are helping me walk too! My aide puts my leg on each day. And next month I fly to Nashville to get my first ever running blade leg.

It’s really fun to walk, and I like being able to explore the world on my own. Thank you to all the people who are helping me and my family! 🦿

Wildman Alex finished his first school year today!

Wildman Alex finished his first school year today!!

Remember how nervous we were? We had a soft ask not to put him in school yet, due to his fragile lungs and complicated history. He couldn’t walk and wasn’t even really swallowing much by mouth back then. But we made the call due to small class size and went ahead.

And thank god we did. He flourished.

What an incredible program offered by our school district. The teachers, aids, kids, and parents were all so amazing. Every single one. We are BEYOND elated that he gets to go back to the same program next year. What a blessing. Another ‘pinch me’ moment. ❤️

Now for a summer of adventure ahead!

PINCH ME MOMENT!! We celebrated Alex and his broth

PINCH ME MOMENT!! We celebrated Alex and his brother Jack’s birthday this weekend*, and it was awesome!!

Alex got a Woody doll that talks recently. And he started saying “yeehaw cowboy”, which led to this Toy Story themed party! His speech is taking off just recently. He’s got friends!! He’s doing so well on all fronts. It’s just unbelievable. My husband John and I looked at each other while setting up this party and said “pinch me”. Like is this really happening? We’re so excited and grateful for these boys. And Alex is FOUR years old now!! Just wow. Our miracle dude.

The birthday cards from his friends made me cry (included a few in the pictures). It is a beautiful world out there and we have seen so much kindness and good throughout these wild four years.

So yeah, a pinch me moment! And happy birthday to our wild man! ❤️

*Alex actual birthday June 8. His brother June 1.
